The operational efficiency of Mercotac® Rotary Electrical Connectors is based on a superior principle. These connectors establish an exceptionally low- resistance electrical connection by utilizing a liquid metal path that is molecularly bonded to the contacts. This unique Mercotac® connection maintains its consistency throughout the entire lifespan of the rotary electrical connector.
In contrast, brush slip rings consist of a rotating metal ring where a graphite or metal brush makes contact to facilitate the transfer of electrical signals or current. While brush slip rings are operationally straightforward, the rubbing interface introduces various issues, such as wear, elevated electrical resistance, oxidation, and resistance fluctuations, ultimately leading to electrical noise.
